How to: Find genres to like

Picture from Pexels

If anyone has followed my channel for a little while you know that I love to read books. And I have been breaching into new genres that I earlier never could have dreamed of reading.

I have to be honest, breaching out into different genres can be a little scary sometimes. and to find out if you like that genre or not can take time. The reason is that there are so many different authors to choose from, and all of them have different writing style.

What I will say is: If you have read only one book, I don’t feel like you can say that you don’t like the genre. Try out at least a few different books by different authors. And one genre can have a lot of sub-genres. Try out a few different types of sub-genres, because one book can have one sub-genre that may not be your favorite.

I think that one of the most important thing is: Try out books that sounds interesting to you. That you feel like have an interesting plot and you might like.

I love to try out new genres, and new books. I have so many books on my GoodReads TBR, and I hope that I will be able to read a lot of them when I kind of just get a little break on the large readathons I have joined lately. On my TBR I have mostly romance, because that is my favorite genre, however, even if this is my favorite genre there are still books that have tropes or sub-genres that I don’t like.

To make a little list on what I mean:
1. Find books that has an interesting plot to you.
2. Don’t just try 1 books, try multiple books and authors
3. If one author isn’t for you, try something else (I have a complicated relationships with some authors)
4. Try out different sub-genres, if one sub-genre isn’t for you something else might
5. Reading is supposed to be fun, don’t push yourself. Some genres just isn’t for you

What tips do you have?

The Week That Passed

Another week has passed, and let’s be honest, I haven’t been the best at keeping up with my blog. I try and get better at it, but it’s not always easy.

Last weeks highlight:
We finally got warmer weather, and that has made me happy.

Picture from Pexels

Last weeks downturn:
Not feeling well. But also everything that is going on in the States. It is horrible!

Last weeks movie:
Did I watch anything last week? Did I watch Dinosaur? Or was that the week before that?

Last weeks tv show:
So, since I am currently watching Baywatch I felt a little un-motivated and didn’t watch anything.

Last weeks song:
Svag by Victor Leksell. My sister got me hooked. It is a Swedish song, and I have listened to it this whole week.

Last weeks food:
Turkey in Oso Boco. So good!

Last weeks book:
I was in a reading slump, and I didn’t finish anything. Or maybe a non-fiction, but then you have my talk on that somewhere up here.

That was all I had for that week. Short, but I just didn’t do a lot last week.

Welcome June

I cannot believe we are in June already. I fee like time flies by, we are soon half way through 2020, and I feel like the year just started. So, I just thought I would talk a little bit about my plans for June, I try and do this every single month, not that I am super good at it yet, let’s be honest.

Read.
This one is always my number one. I again have too many books on my June TBR. I just put on more and more books as I find readthons to join. I have like 5 I want to join this month. I don’t think I will finish all those books, because it is way too many to finish, but you never know. I have a good mix between physical, audiobooks and ebooks.

Nintendo Switch.
So, I just got a mail and on the website it says: Sent. I hope this is true, because the original date I was supposed to get it was July 10. I will be super happy if I get this one like within this week, I will listen to audiobooks and just play.

Blog.
I say this every single month, don’t I? I will blog more. I feel like i have said this like every single month and I just don’t. But, I hope I will be able to blog more.

Instagram.
I am putting it out here. I am hoping to update my Instagram every single day. And I will update in the end of the month on how it went, or you can check on your own, my Instagram handle is @hanibananiofficial

Get some sun on my body.
Let’s be honest. Living where I live you have to take advantage whenever you have sun. Some summers we will have a few days of sun, and then cloudy days for almost a week or rain before maybe a few days more with sun. I like to be at least a little tan. And it is healthy for you body to get at least a little sun.

I don’t think there is anything else. Let’s be honest, I try not to have too many things to get done. Just because I know that I am a person who not always am motivated to do long lists. If a list gets too long I lose motivation, so I try to keep my lists small and do things when I feel like it.

If there are anything you want me to talk about I am always open to suggestions and I would love to hear it.

Your Rebel Dreams Review

I want to say that Your Rebel Dreams is more of a self-discovery that a self-help book.

In Your Rebel Dreams you will get help with what your passion is. This is not only a book to read, you have loads of worksheets in this that will help you discover your passion and purpose in life.

This is the first in a three book series called Rebel Diva.

The book will make you think, and you will have to work hard to find some of the answers for this book, but it is all worth it in the end.

If you don’t have this book physical, inside the book you get a link to get a worksheet you can print out that has the exercises you will do in this book.

In this book you will find your values and your purpose in life.
Your talents and skills in your passion.
The environment that brings out the best in you.
And create a vision for your life in line with your calling.
And so much else.

There was so many good quotes in this book, that will inspire you, and they all fit so well with the chapter they where in.

If you aren’t sure what your passion is yet, this book is for you. Set off some time, for this is not a book that takes a short time. The author would like that you work on this for 8 weeks, and discover your passion and meaning in life.

I would highly recommend this book. And least try it out. See if this is something for you.

A lot of the books I read are under rated books. This book has only 19 ratings on Goodreads, and only 46 ratings on Amazon, so there are not a lot of people who knows about this book.

Things I am looking forward to

I have to say, this last 2 weeks of the month I think will go by fast! There are a few things I am looking forward to. So let’s talk a little about them, you will get pictures of everything once I receive the things I have ordered.

Picture from Pexels

Fountain pen. This is coming next week. And I can’t wait to start writing with this one. I have never tried fountain pens before, and I have decided that I want to try it out. If I like it I think it will be much better than the pens I am writing with now.

Sticker machine. I have bought myself a sticker machine. It’s just a small one, but I want to be able to print out different sort of stuff. Pictures, etc. Then I can put them into my Bullet Journal and start a new series on my YouTube channel. Because there as this one person who wanted writing videos, and I thought that a good way to incorporate this in videos is something I have been thinking about doing for a long time, writing down what I have watched with a review. I just need that sticker machine first. Should be here before the month is over.

Nintendo Switch. Can someone stop me from using all my money. This sh*t is expensive guys, and I had a weak moment. So, most likely before the month is over I will have my own Nintendo Switch. At least if the place I bought is from has it in the store and did not lie to me. So, I guess I will be listening to audiobooks once this one is here. I wonder what my mom will say. What good games should I think about getting?

Reading. I have so many books left to read, and I want to finish them all. But I have so many! And so little time to read them. Well, once I get my switch I will listen to a lot of audiobooks, but them again I have someone that currently aren’t available as audiobooks, and that I need to finish as normal. I just need to check out the different places I listen to audiobooks from.

Instagram. Over these last few weeks I want to work on my Instagram. I want to get better at posting, so I guess I should start doing it. I just need to find the way I like it to look. I haven’t find that yet, but I hope to experience it and then I can make it pretty.

I think that is all. It might be more, but you know. I will update things once I receive it. I don’t know when everything will be here, but you will get updates.

Dear Future Lover Review

So, I am actually done with another non-fiction book. This is going surprisingly good. The book I read this time is called Dear Future Lover.

Judith Joy began this whole adventure when she started her Dear Future Lover letters. This was letters to her future lover. She wrote down different things, but also what she wanted in her future lover. And what she wanted was what she got, and that is super interesting.

After she met her lover she started to write this book. She wrote down all these different kind of things to think about.

Judith Joy describes her journey and process to find true love. She implements the Law of Attraction. She highlights and explains the principles of the Law of Attraction and how they can help you make your dream lover a reality.

This book was so interesting, just because you can use it on other parts of your life. The one thing that stuck with me was: Highest vibration wins. I hope to be able to try that out in real life.

This is a book I will definitely read again at some point in my life, and see what other things I can take from this book.

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. I loved it, but for me to give a non-fiction book 5 stars it has to be something I can’t put down.

Why I have a checklist/to do list

Have you ever gone through a day or a week when you have things to do, but then the week has passed and you haven’t done anything that you had planned? Let’s be honest, you are not alone. This was me not too long ago as well.

At least until I figured out the best way for me is to have a list. A checklist or a to do list. There are multiple ways to do this. You can have a daily to do list, a weekly, a monthly, a yearly.
You decide where you want to have it. On a piece of paper, on your phone, in a notebook, in a Bullet Journal.

Picture from Pexels

You know, you can start the new year with writing things you need to get done throughout the whole year. If there is a project you are working on that you are doing over a whole year this is a great way. However, if you have a huge task, have that one at the top, but section it up. What I mean is, take this huge task and break it up to many small tasks. Then you know what you have to do, but also makes it easier to finish it.

Quarterly. So, if you think yearly is too long, but monthly is too short then quarterly may be the thing for you. Then you plan things for 3 months at a time. If there are things that will take some time. However, think about the time, don’t plan too much. 3 months may be long, however, when you start to think about it, it’s not that long.

Monthly. There are a lot of things we need to get done. Planning what needs to get done throughout a month may help you on the way to get things done. Getting larger things done. This is for example me planning what to read, I plan those books on a monthly basis. Planing things that needs to get done that month.

Weekly. Maybe there are things that needs to get done this week. Cleaning, reading, assignments. Thing that you need to get to that specific week. You can say this is a master task list.

Daily. Writing tasks daily can be a little tiering. However, I have to say: This helps me get things done. If I have something I have to get done, write it down. Mark off important dates. If you forget to pay your bill, write up rather the date you want to pay it on, or write down the date you have to have it paid by.

Whatever you choose is best for you. Maybe you have to try out a few different ones before you figure out what is best for you. Or maybe you plan on all of these. Whatever works best for you. However, having things written down and checking it off after you have done it is so satisfying.

Emotional Intelligence by Judy Dyer

Let me introduce you to the first non-fiction book I have ever finished, and actually liked.

Emotional Intelligence by Judy Dyer is basically about this concept called Emotional Intelligence. When we think of success, we often think of IQ, however, over the years the concept of Emotional Intelligence has become predominant in the conversation of success. Human interactions are all around us, and the skill of being able to deal with others in social situations and vital.
This book helps you educate yourself on how to deal with your feelings and the feelings of others. Judy Dyer reveals some of the most dynamic and powerful principles that will assist you in developing your emotional intelligence. You discover new insights on the importance of understanding your feelings and how to control and use them to live a more fulfilling life.

I learned a lot. I gave this book 4 ⭐️, I found it interesting. And I think that is one of the things with many non-fiction books. They don’t interest me. I don’t find topics that I feel like I care about and can give me something to learn. This book did.

I am thinking of buying this book, so I can go over it again and highlight the parts I found the most interesting. And also tab it so I can easily find it again.

Learning about this topic actually made me think. It gave me a perspective on what to look for in a future relationship. I learned that people with low emotional intelligence aren’t good for you. Some of them drain your energy, but they also have a habit of always finding something negative, they always fight you, etc.

I usually read a chapter a day, and I found that helpful. Then I could take in what I had read that day.

He reason I want to buy it is because I want to read it again in the future. I want to learn something from the book, and what I tab it I can go back to the sections I like and read them.

Discover Weekly Songs

If you have Spotify you know that every single week you get new songs on your own playlist called Discover Weekly. A playlist that changes every single Monday. I use this one sometimes, but maybe not enough. That is why I want to try this out. I will put on the playlist here at home, and write down the song and how I am feeling about it, then I will say if I decide to save it or not.
Let’s go. I wonder what Spotify has in store for me this week.

BOYS LIKE YOU – ANNA CLENDENING
A love song of some kind. I like it. I think this is a song I can listen to again. Definitely, I actually is listening to the song rather than writing a lot about it.
I’m gonna save it, so I can do just that. Listen to it again.

STONE COLD – DEMI LOVATO
I mean, it’s Demi Lovato. She is amazing! I have been bad at keep up with what she has made, so I am so happy that things like these comes up so I can catch up a little.
I’m gonna save it! It you didn’t catch what I was just saying.

LET ME LOVE YOU – UNTIL YOU LEARN TO LOVE YOURSELF – REDCARPETPOPS
This was a long title. I don’t really know. I could change my mind, but right now I don’t feel a connection. However, my music changes with my mood.
So, I am going to skip it.

SYMPHONY – CLEAN BANDIT, ZARA LARSSON
I have of course heard this before. I have heard this one on the radio time after time. And that is the reason I don’t have this one on any lists. And that is also the reason I am going to skip it now too.

BEAUTIFUL MESS – KRISTIAN KOSTOV
I am instantly drawn. He has a beautiful voice. And I think this is a song I can listen to more.
So, I am going to save it.

I WON’T GIVE UP – CHRISTINA GRIMMIE
A cover. I love the original song. This girl has a good voice. And I love a good cover of songs. So I am going to save it.

I’M NOT HER – CLARA MAE
I like how it sounds. This is a song I can see myself listening to in the car. That is that kind of song.
I am going to save it.

EVERYTIIME WE TOUCH – COOLEST HITS VERSION – SWEET SOFT LADIES, WINTER LOUNGE EDITION:
I have many of these covers of this song. I’m not going to save this. It’s nothing wrong with it, this is just a song I don’t listen to too much.

LOVE CAN SAVE IT ALL – ANDRA
I instantly am attracted to this song! I will save it, even if I won’t listen to it all the time I don’t want this song to just disappear without me can find it again.

HERE COMES GOODBYE – CHRIS SLIGH
I have to be honest. No one will be better at Rascal Flatts.

UNSTEADY – TRANSFORMATING DUKE
I love this song. However, I don’t listen to a lot of versions of it.

THE DOCTOR SAID – CHLOE ADAMS
This is a no for me.

OVER AND OVER AGAIN – NATHAN SYKES, ARIANA GRANDE
No. I don’t like the start, and then my problems start. I usually don’t listen to songs if I don’t like the beginning. And, the way I feel today, this is not the song for me.

HURT LIKE WE DID – FO&O
I am intrigued. Ok, I like it. I think I want to keep it!

NEVER ENOUGH – CIMORELLI, JAMES CHARLES
I love this song. But, I don’t think I will ever like anything just as much as the one in The Greatest Showman.

I THINK I’M IN LOVE – ANDIE CASE
This is something I would listen to in my car. So, sure.

DU STO DER å LO – VANJA V
This is a Norwegian song. I like it.

I KEEP DANCING ON MY OWN – DJ DRIVE
I have listened to this song way too much!

NEVER FORGET YOU – ANGELA CHANG
Yes! I like it.

WHY IS EVERYTHING SO HEAVY – SOUNDTRACK DELIGHT
I think it’s okay. I will keep it in case I am in the mood.

SCARED TO BE LONELY – BEN WOODWARD
I have heard this too much!

GATUVÅLD – BELL MOTHANDER
So, another Norwegian song. I don’t think so with this one.

DANCING ON MY OWN/ I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY – NICK PITERA
Another one?

RESET – TIGER JK, JINSIL
More like k-pop. It’s catchy! So, yes.

REALLY DON’T CARE – I DON’T FLY
Nothing will be better than the original.

GOTTA GO MY OWN WAY – GABRIELLA, TROY
NO!

UMBRELLA – J2, JVZEL
I am not the biggest fan of this song. I don’t listen to it that much!

UTAN DINA ANDETAG – IDA-LOVA
Why? Just, no.

ONE MORE LIGHT – ONYRIA
I like it. So, yes.

UNHINGED – NICK JONAS
I don’t listen to a lot of Nick Jonas. I find out that I usually end up liking his songs.

That was all the songs! So, I found a few new ones.

The Week That Passed 18/2020

I thought I would start up with this again. Talking about the week that passed. This is something I used to do all the time. I like talking about my favorite things.

LAST WEEKS HIGHLIGHTS:
Hmm… Wednesday. I changed to summer tiers on my car. But also something else happened.

LAST WEEKS DOWNTURN:
I just have had some off days. A lot of the days this week has been off days. Where I have just been so tired and not feeling like doing anything else.

LAST WEEKS MOVIE:
I didn’t watch a lot of movies last week. However, I did watch the entire Chronicles of Narnia. All three movies. I just love these movies. They was such a huge part of childhood, and I just still love them because of that.

LAST WEEKS TV SHOW:
So, I only watched three episodes of Baywatch last week. The last three episodes of season 1. And I will tell you, this first season is such a drag! I will continue on, just because I am curious about how it is. I have just seen the 2 last seasons, never the ones leading up to those.

LAST WEEKS SONG:
What’s My Name by China Anne McClain, Thomas Doherty and Dylan Playfair.
I have been listening to this one so much!

LAST WEEKS BOOK:
I read a lot of 3 star books last week. However, the one that got 5 stars and I liked the most was Restore Me by Tahareh Mafi.

LAST WEEKS CELEBRITY:
So, only watching only Narnia and Baywatch I can only have 1 person I like. Or… two, kinda.

These two. Skandar Keynes and Ben Barnes. These two are my favorites.

LAST WEEKS COUPLE:
I have to say. There are not a lot of couples in things I have seen this week. I have to say Shauni and Eddie for this week.

That was the week that passed. I hope you enjoyed. I hope to get more into this as time passes.
