How to: Find genres to like

Picture from Pexels

If anyone has followed my channel for a little while you know that I love to read books. And I have been breaching into new genres that I earlier never could have dreamed of reading.

I have to be honest, breaching out into different genres can be a little scary sometimes. and to find out if you like that genre or not can take time. The reason is that there are so many different authors to choose from, and all of them have different writing style.

What I will say is: If you have read only one book, I don’t feel like you can say that you don’t like the genre. Try out at least a few different books by different authors. And one genre can have a lot of sub-genres. Try out a few different types of sub-genres, because one book can have one sub-genre that may not be your favorite.

I think that one of the most important thing is: Try out books that sounds interesting to you. That you feel like have an interesting plot and you might like.

I love to try out new genres, and new books. I have so many books on my GoodReads TBR, and I hope that I will be able to read a lot of them when I kind of just get a little break on the large readathons I have joined lately. On my TBR I have mostly romance, because that is my favorite genre, however, even if this is my favorite genre there are still books that have tropes or sub-genres that I don’t like.

To make a little list on what I mean:
1. Find books that has an interesting plot to you.
2. Don’t just try 1 books, try multiple books and authors
3. If one author isn’t for you, try something else (I have a complicated relationships with some authors)
4. Try out different sub-genres, if one sub-genre isn’t for you something else might
5. Reading is supposed to be fun, don’t push yourself. Some genres just isn’t for you

The Week That Passed

Another week has passed, and let’s be honest, I haven’t been the best at keeping up with my blog. I try and get better at it, but it’s not always easy.

Last weeks highlight:
We finally got warmer weather, and that has made me happy.

Picture from Pexels

Last weeks downturn:
Not feeling well. But also everything that is going on in the States. It is horrible!

Last weeks movie:
Did I watch anything last week? Did I watch Dinosaur? Or was that the week before that?

Last weeks tv show:
So, since I am currently watching Baywatch I felt a little un-motivated and didn’t watch anything.

Last weeks song:
Svag by Victor Leksell. My sister got me hooked. It is a Swedish song, and I have listened to it this whole week.

Last weeks food:
Turkey in Oso Boco. So good!

Last weeks book:
I was in a reading slump, and I didn’t finish anything. Or maybe a non-fiction, but then you have my talk on that somewhere up here.

That was all I had for that week. Short, but I just didn’t do a lot last week.

Welcome June

I cannot believe we are in June already. I fee like time flies by, we are soon half way through 2020, and I feel like the year just started. So, I just thought I would talk a little bit about my plans for June, I try and do this every single month, not that I am super good at it yet, let’s be honest.

Read.
This one is always my number one. I again have too many books on my June TBR. I just put on more and more books as I find readthons to join. I have like 5 I want to join this month. I don’t think I will finish all those books, because it is way too many to finish, but you never know. I have a good mix between physical, audiobooks and ebooks.

Nintendo Switch.
So, I just got a mail and on the website it says: Sent. I hope this is true, because the original date I was supposed to get it was July 10. I will be super happy if I get this one like within this week, I will listen to audiobooks and just play.

Blog.
I say this every single month, don’t I? I will blog more. I feel like i have said this like every single month and I just don’t. But, I hope I will be able to blog more.

Instagram.
I am putting it out here. I am hoping to update my Instagram every single day. And I will update in the end of the month on how it went, or you can check on your own, my Instagram handle is @hanibananiofficial

Get some sun on my body.
Let’s be honest. Living where I live you have to take advantage whenever you have sun. Some summers we will have a few days of sun, and then cloudy days for almost a week or rain before maybe a few days more with sun. I like to be at least a little tan. And it is healthy for you body to get at least a little sun.

I don’t think there is anything else. Let’s be honest, I try not to have too many things to get done. Just because I know that I am a person who not always am motivated to do long lists. If a list gets too long I lose motivation, so I try to keep my lists small and do things when I feel like it.

If there are anything you want me to talk about I am always open to suggestions and I would love to hear it.

Things I am looking forward to

I have to say, this last 2 weeks of the month I think will go by fast! There are a few things I am looking forward to. So let’s talk a little about them, you will get pictures of everything once I receive the things I have ordered.

Picture from Pexels

Fountain pen. This is coming next week. And I can’t wait to start writing with this one. I have never tried fountain pens before, and I have decided that I want to try it out. If I like it I think it will be much better than the pens I am writing with now.

Sticker machine. I have bought myself a sticker machine. It’s just a small one, but I want to be able to print out different sort of stuff. Pictures, etc. Then I can put them into my Bullet Journal and start a new series on my YouTube channel. Because there as this one person who wanted writing videos, and I thought that a good way to incorporate this in videos is something I have been thinking about doing for a long time, writing down what I have watched with a review. I just need that sticker machine first. Should be here before the month is over.

Nintendo Switch. Can someone stop me from using all my money. This sh*t is expensive guys, and I had a weak moment. So, most likely before the month is over I will have my own Nintendo Switch. At least if the place I bought is from has it in the store and did not lie to me. So, I guess I will be listening to audiobooks once this one is here. I wonder what my mom will say. What good games should I think about getting?

Reading. I have so many books left to read, and I want to finish them all. But I have so many! And so little time to read them. Well, once I get my switch I will listen to a lot of audiobooks, but them again I have someone that currently aren’t available as audiobooks, and that I need to finish as normal. I just need to check out the different places I listen to audiobooks from.

Instagram. Over these last few weeks I want to work on my Instagram. I want to get better at posting, so I guess I should start doing it. I just need to find the way I like it to look. I haven’t find that yet, but I hope to experience it and then I can make it pretty.

I think that is all. It might be more, but you know. I will update things once I receive it. I don’t know when everything will be here, but you will get updates.

Why I have a checklist/to do list

Have you ever gone through a day or a week when you have things to do, but then the week has passed and you haven’t done anything that you had planned? Let’s be honest, you are not alone. This was me not too long ago as well.

At least until I figured out the best way for me is to have a list. A checklist or a to do list. There are multiple ways to do this. You can have a daily to do list, a weekly, a monthly, a yearly.
You decide where you want to have it. On a piece of paper, on your phone, in a notebook, in a Bullet Journal.

Picture from Pexels

You know, you can start the new year with writing things you need to get done throughout the whole year. If there is a project you are working on that you are doing over a whole year this is a great way. However, if you have a huge task, have that one at the top, but section it up. What I mean is, take this huge task and break it up to many small tasks. Then you know what you have to do, but also makes it easier to finish it.

Quarterly. So, if you think yearly is too long, but monthly is too short then quarterly may be the thing for you. Then you plan things for 3 months at a time. If there are things that will take some time. However, think about the time, don’t plan too much. 3 months may be long, however, when you start to think about it, it’s not that long.

Monthly. There are a lot of things we need to get done. Planning what needs to get done throughout a month may help you on the way to get things done. Getting larger things done. This is for example me planning what to read, I plan those books on a monthly basis. Planing things that needs to get done that month.

Weekly. Maybe there are things that needs to get done this week. Cleaning, reading, assignments. Thing that you need to get to that specific week. You can say this is a master task list.

Daily. Writing tasks daily can be a little tiering. However, I have to say: This helps me get things done. If I have something I have to get done, write it down. Mark off important dates. If you forget to pay your bill, write up rather the date you want to pay it on, or write down the date you have to have it paid by.

Whatever you choose is best for you. Maybe you have to try out a few different ones before you figure out what is best for you. Or maybe you plan on all of these. Whatever works best for you. However, having things written down and checking it off after you have done it is so satisfying.

TV Show Plans

So, every single month I have some plans of which TV Shows I want to start, and I try not to have too many. It doesn’t always work out the way I plan to, and sometimes I end up watching something totally different than I was planning to.

Every single month I pull out a piece of paper with a TV Show on. And if I don’t watch what I am supposed to the tv show is carried on to the next month. I also try to pick some others to watch, because I have so many to watch, like 1800 or something.

Dirty John is a tv show I have carried over all the way from January. I don’t know why I haven’t watched it. It might be because I don’t know what I am walking into with this tv show.

For March now I have Looking for Alaska. I just read the book this year, and now I can’t wait to dive into this tv show. I just need to find a time where I’m not reading, because I think this tv show will be one of those where I can only watch.

These are the tv shows I need to get done. I have a few I want to keep on watching. For example:

Riverdale. This is not my favorite show, there is much weird stuff happening. I used to watch this tv show a lot, but I stopped in season 2. I don’t know why I chose to continue on now, but I have figured out that the tv show is a good background while I read.

Masterchef Australia. So, I am almost finished with season 3, and then I will watch the All Star season before continue on with the other seasons. I usually use this a background, but I like to see how the stakes get higher for every season. And I want to get up to date, and see how the new judges are. And I know what the next season will follow.

Ragnarok. So, I haven’t started this yet, but it is a Norwegian show, and it has some of the actors from Skam in it. I used to love Skam back in the day. I want to see how it is. And it has been renewed for a second season.

Skam. Talking about Skam. I want to see this one again. It is some time since I last watched it, and now I am ready to get back into it.

I think I am stopping myself there. I have a lot of movies to watch too. Every month I usually have some thoughts about what I want to watch, and planning out what to watch I feel that I get more organized, and are able to watch more.

Tv Time

I don’t know how many times I have talked about TV Time. But I just didn’t have anything else to write about.

I think I can call this app one of my favorites. What I love about it is the organization I can do with my TV Shows and Movies. This makes my wrap ups at the end of the months much easier. And when I find a new Tv show to watch, I can just add it in there.

I like that I am able to see how much time I am using watching both tv shows and movies, I don’t want to spend too much time, but I would also like to be able to finish every single one of the tv shows I am adding, but I don’t think that will ever be possible.

I like that you can see how many shows you have added on there, I have currently 1823 shows added, so that is quite a lot. So, I find it funny to see the average age of the fans who have added the shows I have too, mine is at 28.6 years, so it’s quite a lot more than my 22 years, so I definitely watch a lot of tv shows that older people watch.

I like that some of them have quizzes you can answer, and even though I suck at quiz, I still find them very entertaining to do when then come up.

You can also see the remaining episodes you have left, I have 5211, so I have extremely many. It also says on average how many episodes of tv shows you see a week, I am watching 29.9 episodes a week, and in this particular speed I will finish all my tv shows 16 December 2024, so still a long time to go.

I watch a lot of tv shows at the same time, and I find this app to be most helpful, I have it all written down. But also if it is a series I don’t watch too often, or I take a break from the series, it is easy to pick up where you left off, you simply just open the app and then you find the tv show you are looking for and you can just start where you left off.

You can also follow people, and you can see how much time they have used on watching tv and then it is made a list out of the people you follow. I like to see where on the list I am, and you kind of compete a little to be on the top of the list.

If you want to follow me on this app feel free to add me, I usually add people back.

World of Potter

Bilderesultat for world of potter EU

So, I didn’t know about this page until today. I got an ad on Instagram, and I just couldn’t resist.

I am now a member of this page, and it’s so interesting. Basically, I don’t know all the details yet, but I am trying to learn my best.

So I don’t know if everything I say right now is true, but I think that it is. Every week you have like homework in different classes that you learn about in Harry Potter.

I am in the EU server, since I live in Norway.

I find it so cool to have to like write different post for the different classes and getting graded of how well you kind of answer the questions, and if you do as the homework asks, and things like that. I love writing, and being able to write things like this is going to be cool!

But, right now I am going to bed. I am so tired. I will keep on with World of Potter tomorrow, I still have a few Homework assignments left, so I hope everything is going great this week with it.

Filming, tv shows and relaxing

Today have been… I don’t know what to call it. Productive, but so exhausting. I have filmed like at least 5 videos, so now I only have left to edit them.

I have like 9 ish videos to edit, and that is a lot. I haven’t seen how many I have. I have to start tomorrow. A lot of them is going up next week, so I need to be done with a few by then. The first one is going up on Monday, and that is my February TBR. I won’t bore you all by telling you all the videos going up, but I hope that I will be able to edit all of them and upload them.

So, today have been the perfect filming day. I have been alone for almost the whole day, and when I am alone is the best days to film, because if I am not alone I can’t talk in a normal voice, because if I speak in a normal voice people will hear what I am saying. And I am not so keen on that.

And you know, you may be wondering why I am living at home at 22, almost 23. I am willing to tell people, but not in this post. I will write about it in another post, just explaining.

So, when I finished all the filming I had planned out, the videos I knew I could film and knew what would be about, I watched like 2 episodes of Bones. I have been hooked on Bones lately, and I am just over halfway through the second season, and I think I will, maybe, possibly finish it next week. I have to see though. I still have 6 movies and 8 episodes of Dirty John to watch, however, I might just use 2 days watching Dirty John, I have to start tomorrow, and I also must watch a movie tomorrow.

So, on my movies to watch, I have the Norwegian movie The Wave, and I am watching that with my mother. so I need to see when we can watch it together.

I need to relax now. And I think I need to do that tomorrow as well. Well, it’s Sunday tomorrow so it’s the relax day.

The weather today have been awful, yesterday and half of today we have had snow, and now it has started to rain. The roads are just slush, and that is the worst thing driving in. I was out driving a little while ago, and when I got over 25 km/h the car began wandering, and you just had to slow down. Let’s hope this is over before I have to drive on Monday, with my tired I should not be driving on slush.

Explaining Bookopoly

So, since I talk a little about books, and I have a habit of talking about things that I haven’t explained. So, today I thought I would explain about the game that I am using to choose my TBR.

So, I won’t explain it in as much detail as I did in my video. If you want more, here is the video:

So, this game is based on Monopoly, but all the squares are book based. I won’t talk about all the squares, because I do that in the video. It is personalized to me, so there is genres that I own books in, so I can choose from the TBR that I am already owning, but I won’t say that I am not buying any more books.

Each month I roll the dices, and I choose books from where I land, sometimes I roll a double and then I need to add another book to that months TBR.

So, in January now I have 7 books from Bookopoly’s game, and that means that I can choose a little bit more books each month, so I usually join read-a-thons each month, and it’s great to have a little wriggle room.

I try as much as possible to choose books I am excited to read, some months there might be a book I am more excited to read than others. Of course, since a book is on my TBR I have been wanting to reading it.

There are some squares that are out of my choosing, for example the GoodReads Choice award winner, that is a winner (and the books leading up to that winner) from one of the years. I choose one and then read that book, some of them are exiting, and some of them are not.

I explain it better in the video, I also have my inspiration for the game there.
